Synopsis

This production is based on the radio show "Run to the Place Where Sunrise" by Yen Dezhong. Set during the Qianlong period, it tells the story of a Mongolian tribe, the Torghut, who lived along the Volga River in Russia for 240 years. Driven by the pursuit of national independence and survival, the tribe, led by their chief Wuo Baxi, decides to return to their homeland in the Tian Shan mountains in China. After more than seven months and a journey of 70,000 kilometers, they face immense sacrifices but ultimately arrive at their destined home.
