For this first appearance in the Arab world by the World Orchestra for Peace at the invitation of the Abu Dhabi Festival, its dynamic conductor, Valery Gergiev, has put together a pro- gramme featuring major symphonies by two of Russia's best-loved composers, Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky.
The World Orchestra for Peace is made up of the finest musicians from the world's leading archestras and was established by the legendary conductor, Sir Georg Solti, in 1995 with a very special goal: to "reaffirm the unique strength of music as an ambassador for peace".
