I once heard an old fan say that if you want to hear a great interpretation, the recording is not so good, but if you want an audiophile recording, the performance is not so good, as if it is difficult to get the best of both worlds, the recording and the interpretation. However, this ABC release of Horowitz's "Songs of the Earth" is a superb version of the recording and performance. In terms of interpretation, any fan of Horowitz's music should hear how he brings the piano masterpieces to life. The superb piano recordings, which skillfully captured the performer's expression, are a dream come true for audiophiles. Whether it's the weight of the fingers, the pedal changes, the resonance of the piano or the breathing of the performer, the rich details of the music performance are all sufficient to be called the best pimple of the piano recording. The combination of excellent recordings and insightful interpretations makes this disc equal in weight to the masterpieces of many masters.

Horowitz is one of those pianists whose playing is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a particular composer, but listen to Horowitz play any composer and you will fall in love with the perfection of his playing. This is the shining example of a pure pianist, and Horowitz hardly ever records chamber music with others. In my opinion, the sound of any other instrument would be a distraction from the sound of Horowitz's piano.

Horowitz is a controversial pianist because of the extreme expressiveness and effect of his playing. In terms of technique, his control of speed and intensity is outstanding, especially in the octave expression, there is an amazing ability to produce a strong metallic sound, but also dreamy and soft tone He is good at strong sound, good at creating fast sound effects, the pursuit of wonderful continuo effect, he emphasizes the extreme contrast and extreme expression, his playing can create the most outstanding effect. Horowitz plays with little use of the pedals, and his technique and musicality seem to make the role of the pedals irrelevant. Wonderfully, his playing is not at all dry due to the loss of the pedal. What is most impressive about his playing is the marked contrasts in rhythm and the dynamic warmth of his playing.

The bright and specific rhythmic movements make his playing dramatic and musically brilliant. Most of the tracks in this album are of piano music beauty. If you are not familiar with piano music, you may find it difficult to get into the situation at the beginning, so we suggest you to start with the "Wedding March" which is adapted later on. This piece allows you to experience the fun of the piece and at the same time hear the magic of Horowitz's fingers, which are like wands of gold. He plays a few sweaty strong notes where people play weak notes, and some goosebumps in the parts where people play strong notes, and when you get to know his syntax, you'll listen to the rest. Do you think his smile looks naughty? His music is really naughty!

Earth Melody is the last recording of Horowitz in New York in 1989. The impeccable recording technique and Horowitz's even more impeccable playing make this album a timeless classic. Horowitz's playing has always been so elusive, as if it were a myth in itself. He seems to be saying something, but he wants to say it, but he doesn't say it, he just lets people speculate and realize it. What Horowitz brings to the listener is far different from the mood expressed by other pianists, he has been completely immersed in this delicate music, and what he conveys is of course the deepest feelings of the heart. Whose soul would not be touched by the sound of the piano? The only thing we can do is to listen to what he has said, to feel what he has realized, to look back on the past, and to look forward to the future. ……
