In terms of interpretation, any fan of Horowitz's music should hear how he brings the piano masterpieces to life. Horowitz is one of those pianists whose playing is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a particular composer, but listen to Horowitz play any composer and you will fall in love with the perfection of his playing. This is the shining example of a pure pianist, and Horowitz hardly ever records chamber music with others. In my opinion, the sound of any other instrument would be a distraction from the sound of Horowitz's piano.
Horowitz is a controversial pianist because of the extreme expressiveness and effect of his playing.
