Victor Tretyakov was born in a musician's family in Krasnoyarsk in 1946. In 1954 the family moved to Moscow and Victor continued his education at the Central Music School under Professor Y. I. Yankelevich who taught him at the Moscow Conservatoire.
Victor Tretyakov started his concert career in 1963. He has visited many towns and cities of the Soviet Union, giving solo performances and appearing with symphony orchestras. He was awarded the title of laureate and the first-grade diploma at the 1965 All-Union musicians’ contest.
1966 brought fresh success to the young violinist: he won the 1st prize at the Third Tchaikovsky International Competition.
