Як і переклад Нового Завіту, переклад старозавітніх книг був здійснений Патріархом Філаретом з Синодальної Біблії — перекладу Священного Писання російською мовою, здійсненого в другій половині XIX ст. чотирма духовними академіями і визнаного Російською православною церквою найавторитетнішим. Текст розташований у дві колонки, паралельні місця знизу сторінки. В кінці розташований Додаток. Це перше повне видання видання Біблії, здійснене Київським патріархатом, яке включає як канонічні, так і неканонічні (второканонічні) книги, а переклад став першим перекладом Священного Писання на сучасну церковну літературну українську мову. Бордового кольору, обкладинка художньо оформлена – сліпе тиснення, титул та корінець – тиснення золотою фольгою, стрічка-закладка.
