Tunisia, the most eastern of the North African countries, is situated at the junction be- tween the Hispano-Moorish influence and the currents originating from Constantinople and Cairo malouf sprang from this amalgamation, and its name is the Tunisian equiva- lent of the andalusian nouba from which it evolved. The first part of this disc contains an- dalusian music, the second part is concerned with the music of the desert nomads. It in- cludes the majority of the instruments of the country.
