About the Authors:
Maria E. Sanchez. Chairperson of the Department of Puerto Rican Studies, Brooklyn College, Prof. Sanchez has an extensive background in teaching, educational administration, and supervision at various levels in the New York City educational system, including service as Supervisor of Bilingual Programs.
Antonio M. Stevens-Arroyo. Associate Professor of Puerto Rican Studies, Brooklyn College, Prof. Stevens-Arroyo is the author of an award-winning study of the Hispanic church, Prophets Denied Honor (Orbis: 1980). He has served as Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights and has published extensively on a variety of themes on culture and civilization.
