Some claiming to be spiritual leaders today, are quick to relegate to their growing list of “inconsequentials” those truths they cannot explain away. Among these is the role of women in the Church. Hot debate and strong feelings have erupted over this issue.

Where do we turn at such a time? Are we left to the opinions of men or is the Scripture sufficient and authoritative for this important subject?

The Word or the World carefully examines the arguments and the relevant biblical passages and leaves the reader with the happy conclusion that God does know best after all.

Brought up in a Christian home and saved in his mid-teens, Willie McVey was employed in early life in the Department of Education, Northern Ireland. Since 1950 he has been engaged in missionary service, mainly among Chinese, in Malaysia and Hong Kong, with a varied ministry, both written and oral. He and his wife are now residents in Queensland, Australia, where their son and daughter, both married, are also active in the Lord's service.
