A household name for his sensual jazz improvisations on Bach, French pianist Jacques Loussier originally formed his celebrated "Play Bach" Trio in 1959. It rapidly became a musical phenomenon, popularising such tunes as "Air on a G String" for new and later generations. In 1985, the Trio was re-formed with percussionist André Arpino and bassist Vincent Charbonnier, and the rare understanding between the three musicians led to the exploration of new repertoire (such as the Brandenburg Concerto heard here) and to a freer, yet more refined style. This release uniquely gives the opportunity to enjoy both "Play Bach" Trios, as the BONUS CD features classic Decon tracks from the original Trio, with percussionist Christian Garros and bassist Pierre Michelot.
