Overview

"The Churchill Tank" is a fascinating documentary that tells the story of one of the most important tanks of World War II. After the calamitous defeat at Dunkirk in 1940, Britain was left with fewer than 100 tanks, and the Vauxhall Company was given just one year to design, develop, and manufacture a replacement for the Matilda II. The resulting Churchill tank had many teething troubles and its operational debut at Dieppe in August 1942 was an unmitigated disaster, but the tanks went on to play an important role in major combat theatres throughout the war.

The documentary features expert analysis and rare archive footage, as well as superb computer graphics that bring the story of the Churchill tank to life.
