"In a bid to mally bring World War Two to a close, Allied forces adopted the new and contentious tactic of "Terror Bombing", the deliberate targeting of civilian areas in German cities. As Germany's capital and Nazi headquarters, Berlin was always going to be high on the Allied hit-list. The city would experience some of the fiercest bombing of the war from the British and American Air Forces, as well as ground attacks from the Russians. A bitter and bloody campaign saw the once great city utterly destroyed."
