Overview

Teseo is an opera in five acts by George Frideric Handel, with a libretto and text by Niccolò Francesco Haym based on Phillipe Quinault. This production was recorded live in July 2004 at the Schlosstheater Neues Palais in Potsdam, with the support of the Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg. The Lautten Compagney Berlin is conducted by Wolfgang Katschner, and the production is directed by Axel Köhler, with costumes and stage design by Stephan Dietrich. The cast includes Jacek Laszczkowski as Teseo, Maria Riccarda Wesseling as Medea, Miriam Meyer as Clizia, Sharon Rostorf-Zamir as Agilea, Martin Wolfel as Egeo, and Thomas Diestler as Arcane. The vocalists of the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, Department of Musical Education, also perform.
