Tyger is the thirtieth major release and seventeenth studio album by the legendary German electronic music pioneers Tangerine Dream. Inspired by the poetry of William Blake, Tyger is an ambitious fusion of electronic soundscapes and literary references. The album explores Blake's work with three tracks based on his poems—The Tyger, London, and Smile—with London incorporating additional references to other Blake works, such as A Little Girl Lost and America: A Prophecy.
This album marks a significant moment in Tangerine Dream's history, being the last studio album to feature long-time member Christopher Franke, a key figure in the band's sound. Tyger spent one week on the UK Albums Chart at No. 88, making it the band's last chart appearance to date. The music blends the distinct Berlin-school electronic style with ambient textures, creating a deep, atmospheric experience that is both meditative and captivating.
