The Smetana Trio (Smetanovo trio) is a Czech piano trio . It is named after the Czech composer Bedřich Smetana . Founded in 1934, it was under the artistic direction of its pianist Josef Páleníček until 1978 . After World War II it was renamed the Czech Trio (České trio) . Since 1978 it has been called the Smetana Trio again .
