This year the festival will be attended by envoys from 15 countries - from the US to Japan. The program includes music of different genres and eras, Russian and St. Petersburg premieres, master classes and open lectures by leading teachers. The festival will feature five orchestras and three choirs, many soloists, including the St. Petersburg laureates of the recent Tchaikovsky Competition. For the first time, the chief conductor of the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and the Amsterdam Orchestra Mariss Jansons, the Polish maestro Krzysztof Penderecki, the composer Aleksandra Pakhmutova and the poet Nikolai Dobronravov are taking part in the festival for the first time. Several programs are dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Igor Stravinsky. This event will be marked by an international scientific conference.
