In this edition, the text of the Synodal Translation of 1876 is verified with the Hebrew text of the Old Testament and the Greek text of the New Testament to eliminate inaccuracies made in the preparation of previous editions of the canonical Russian Bible. Words added by translators “for clarity and connection of speech” are in italics. In the text of the Old Testament, the words taken by the authors of the Synodal Translation from the Septuagint (Greek Bible) are enclosed in square brackets. In the present edition, these inserts from the Greek Bible are preserved only where, from the point of view of modern textual criticism, the Greek text may be closer to the original than the Hebrew text that has come down to us. In the text of the New Testament, words taken from the Slavic translation or later Greek manuscripts are enclosed in square brackets. The publication is accompanied by a Dictionary of Borrowed, Rare and Obsolete Words, so some of the footnotes of previous editions turned out to be superfluous and were omitted.

В настоящем издании текст Синодального перевода 1876 г. сверен с еврейским текстом Ветхого Завета и греческим текстом Нового Завета для устранения неточностей, допущенных при подготовке предыдущих изданий канонической русской Библии.  Курсивом набраны слова, добавленные переводчиками "для ясности и связи речи".  В тексте Ветхого Завета в квадратные скобки заключены слова, взятые авторами Синодального перевода из Септуагинты (греческой Библии). В настоящем издании эти вставки из греческой Библии сохранены лишь там, где, с точки зрения современной текстологии, греческий текст может быть ближе к первоначальному, чем дошедший до нас еврейский.  В тексте Нового Завета в квадратные скобки заключены слова, взятые из славянского перевода или поздних греческих рукописей.  Издание сопровождается Словарем заимствованных, редких и устаревших слов, поэтому некоторые из подстрочных примечаний предыдущих изданий оказались лишними и были опущены.
