A világ megszűnik létezni sokak számára, akik leülnek pókerezni... Mike is így van vele, ráadásul még a jövőjét is elveszti egy kemény játszmában. Jogi tanulmányaira szánt pénze és minden megtakarítása úszik el Teddy KGB, egy orosz maffiózó zöld asztalánál. Megértette a leckét - legalábbis elhiteti magával és barátnőjével is. Fogadalma nem sokáig tart. Legjobb barátja a hamiskártyások királya, éppen börtönből szabadult. Újra belerángatja Mike-ot a füstös szobák világába, hogy visszanyerje adósságait. Kiderül, ugyanannak az embernek tartoznak mindketten. Mike nem hagyja ki az esélyt, nincs mit veszítenie... Az izgalmasan fényképezett film végére némi jártasságot szerezhetünk a beavatott pókerjátékosok titkos szótárában.
