Charles G. Finney was born on August 29, 1792 in Connecticut. He was well educated and began the study of law at the age of twenty-six. It was at this time his spiritual experience began. It was three years later, in the autumn of 1812, that the crisis came. The Holy Spirit had thoroughly convicted him of his sinfulness and guilt and he cried to God for mercy. Through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ he entered into peace with God, and that evening he received a mighty baptism of the Holy Spirit.
