The young Hungarian pianist Dénes Várjon, winner of the Géza Anda competition in 1991, pays tribute in this recital to the master who was too early disappeared (1921-1976), through some of his favorite composers: Dohnányi, the mentor, Franz Liszt he wins the competition in Budapest, Bartók and Schumann that he has served so well - on record as in concert. But nothing in all that pertains to servile imitation; only from the fruitful admiration and sharing of a common cultural heritage, so much is Várjon's familiarity with these yet so different repertoires.
