The TILC Bible (Interdenominational Translation into Common Language), whose official title is Word of the Lord - The Bible in common language, is a version of the Bible published for the first time in 1985 by the Christian Doctrine Bookstore and the Universal Biblical Alliance.

This translation, published in co-edition with Elledici, is the result of years of work and the long experience that the Universal Biblical Alliance (ABU) has acquired translating the Bible into the main languages of the world.

It stands out from the others because it tries to render the Hebrew and Greek text with words and forms of the everyday Italian language, the usual and familiar one that people use to communicate with each other: the current language.

It does not add or remove any information contained in the original texts, but tries to communicate to today's reader, following the method of dynamic equivalences, exactly what the text said to ancient readers. All those who will open this Bible have been, in a certain sense, present and involved throughout the entire translation work.

«If we translate like this – the translators asked themselves with each sentence – will today's reader easily understand what the text means?». The biblical and linguistic expertise of all the collaborators was put at the service of this goal: comprehensibility of the text in fidelity to its original contents.

Protestants and Catholics worked together in this translation and together present it to readers. It is an interconfessional translation, accepted by all Christian confessions and offered to every man, in the common belief that the Bible "can give wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus" (2 Timothy 3.15).

La Bibbia TILC (Traduzione Interconfessionale in Lingua Corrente), il cui titolo ufficiale risulta Parola del Signore - La Bibbia in lingua corrente, è una versione della Bibbia pubblicata per la prima volta nel 1985 dalla Libreria della Dottrina Cristiana e dall'Alleanza Biblica Universale. 

Questa traduzione, pubblicata in co-edizione con la Elledici, è il frutto di anni di lavoro e della lunga esperienza che l'Alleanza Biblica Universale (ABU) ha acquistata traducendo la Bibbia nelle principali lingue del mondo.

Si distingue dalle altre, perché cerca di rendere il testo ebraico e greco con parole e forme della lingua italiana di tutti i giorni, quella consueta e familiare, che le persone usano per comunicare tra loro: la lingua corrente.

Non aggiunge e non toglie alcuna informazione contenuta nei testi originali, ma cerca di comunicare al lettore di oggi, seguendo il metodo delle equivalenze dinamiche, proprio quel che il testo diceva agli antichi lettori. Tutti quelli che apriranno questa Bibbia sono stati, in un certo senso, presenti e partecipi, durante tutto il lavoro di traduzione.

«Se traduciamo così – si sono domandati a ogni frase i traduttori – il lettore di oggi comprenderà facilmente quel che il testo vuol dire?». La competenza biblica e linguistica di tutti i collaboratori è stata messa a servizio di questa mèta: comprensibilità del testo nella fedeltà ai suoi contenuti originali.

Protestanti e cattolici hanno lavorato insieme in questa traduzione e insieme la presentano ai lettori. È una traduzione interconfessionale, accolta da tutte le confessioni cristiane e offerta a ogni uomo, nella comune convinzione che la Bibbia «può dare la saggezza che conduce alla salvezza, per mezzo della fede in Cristo Gesù» (2 Timoteo 3,15).
