Overview

"Nuns on the Run" (or Nuns on the Run: The Story of an Immaculate Deception) is a 1990 British comedy film featuring Eric Idle and Robbie Coltrane. The film was both written and directed by Jonathan Lynn and produced by HandMade Films. Various outdoor scenes were filmed in locations such as Chiswick, White City, and Kings Cross. The story follows London gangsters Brian Hope (played by Idle) and Charlie McManus (played by Coltrane), who aspire to lead more tranquil lives in Brazil after their boss is killed during a bank heist. Disapproving of their new, younger, and more brash boss, Casey (played by Patterson), they plan to rob a local Triad gang of their ill-gotten drug money.

During the robbery, Brian meets and falls in love with a waitress named Faith (played by Coduri). In a twist, Brian and Charlie betray their fellow gangsters, Abbott and Morley, steal the money, and make their escape. However, they are forced to abandon their car when it runs out of petrol and seek refuge in a nearby nunnery amid a gunfight. Faith, who had tried to warn Brian earlier, is shot in the wrist by Abbott, while one of the Triad gang members is shot and hospitalized. Following these events, Casey places a bounty on Brian and Charlie's heads.
