If it ain't broke, don t fix it. This seems to be the approach of the seasoned New Life Worship Team as they release yet another remarkable live project recorded at their home church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. If you enjoy massive arrangements, epic imagery and corporate anthems, You Hold it All is the perfect worship experience for you. This 12 track collection boasts a strong lineup of familiar faces with artists like Jared Anderson ( Rescue, Amazed, Coming Your Way ), Jon Egan ( I Am Free, Overcome ) and Glenn Packiam (My Savior Lives, Your Name ) leading the charge. There are also some great vocal performances from the rest of the New Life team. Although You Hold it All returns with the familiar New Life flare of albums past, it definitely seems to have different points of emphasis and a more celebratory feel. Their last project, Counting on God, was anchored by songs like Overcome and written in response to several devastating moments in their congregation s recent history. So it was exciting to hear about the new things God is doing in and through this beautifully resilient example of the local church. Here are some tracks I especially enjoyed: Lift the Name: Fun, hooky and fresh This is the often evasive song # 1 that every worship leader desperately needs to jumpstart a service in the right way. Our Messiah Reigns: A Co-write with Ian Eskelin and Glenn Packiam (featured on his latest solo project). It focuses on the meaning of Messiah the long awaited Savior, Healer and Restorer. Great I Am: The stand-out track of the album by Jared Anderson. Full of beautiful and epic imagery, painting the picture of worship around the throne. I think this is the next Revelation Song. Just saying... Captives Free: Based out of Luke 4 and Isaiah 61, Jesus fulfilled the Scripture, and now New Life gives us the opportunity to declare the same over our lives. I love the message that this song arms a believer with The Spirit of God is now on us to do even greater things than Jesus Himself! (John 14) Dry Bones: Inspired by Ezekiel 37, this song has a strong prophetic message, speaking to the dry bones in our midst and commanding them to come back to life. God Be Praised: Another powerful song borrowed from Desperation Band s Light up the World adding a new bridge, Out of ashes you lifted us. To the table you came and filled our cup. You can't get ahold of this album fast enough. Buy it. Learn it. And teach it to your congregation --AllAboutWorship
From New Life Church, the same church that brought us such popular worship anthems such as Counting On God and I Am Free, comes New Life Worship's third project, You Hold It All. Through twelve new worship tracks, New Life Worship definitely delivers new songs that will find themselves in church's song lists. The one hour and ten minute album is a must have for fans of Hillsong, Gateway Worship, Jesus Culture, or any other church worship bands. You Hold It All begins with This I Know similar to the slower songs from Hillsong's A Beautiful Exchange Project. The timeless lyrics of this track are definitely sure to make you sing along, both powerful and easy to remember. It Was Freedom reminded me musically of Hillsong United's Solution and is a very encouraging song speaking of giving God all you have, whether it be through dancing or shouting out till your lungs give out. Lift the Name is a very upbeat worship track with chanted lyrics exalting the name of Jesus, and is followed by Our Messiah Reigns a track that also appeared on Glenn Packiam's The Kingdom Comes EP. This track is no-doubt, a highlight from the You Hold It All project from New Life Worship for it's beautiful lyrics and worshipful music. I also enjoyed how this track built very nicely by the arrival of the second verse. Captives Free was a short, but very powerful second part to Our Messiah Reign. Great I AM was slower, having Revelation-based lyrics, and was followed by Be Thou Exalted which reminded me of the Fanny Crosby hymn Be Thou My Vision lyrically, and Hillsong's For All You've Done album musically. I really enjoyed the instrumental that built very well into the memorable bridge: Hallelujah to the Name of all Names/ Hallelujah to our God be all praise/ Ever holy worthy be Thou exalted always. Sing Hallelujah, written by Glenn Packiam and Kari Jobe, was very beautiful, and led perfectly into Dry Bones a cry to God, asking Him to revive us: Living King live in me/ let my heart know/ rushing wind move within/ speak to these dry bones/ dry bones. God Be Praised/ Our God Reigns was a very interesting mix of the new worship track from New Life Worship, God Be Praised and the classic our God Reigns. The result was a very worshipful and enjoyable upbeat track, and was followed by Bless The Lord, practically the psalms put to music, and definitely enjoyable. Lastly, the title track put an upbeat end to New Life Worship's latest project, with a powerful reminder that God holds everything together, and is our all in all. I also enjoyed how the lyrics to the bridge of this track were the first few verses of Psalms 27 with these powerful lyrics following: I will not fear/ I will not fear/ You hold it all! New Life Worship project is an awesome worship project with worship songs sure to become classics. The highlights from You Hold it All include the opening track This I Know, the timeless Our Messiah Reigns, the freedom-filled It Was For Freedom, and the closing track You Hold It All. This is a great worship project, one that I would definitely recommend to Hillsong lovers especially. --jaysmisikblog.com
