Geoff Beak és Susan Beak rendezésében ez az adaptáció a híres kínai népmese egyedi feldolgozását nyújtja, eltérve a szélesebb körben ismert Disney-verziótól.

A történet Mu Lanról szól, egy bátor fiatal nőről, aki férfinak álcázza magát, hogy betegeskedő apja helyett bevonuljon a seregbe, válaszul a császári felhívásra, amely egy lázadás leverésére szólítja a harcosokat.
