This edition, based on Franz Beyer's completion and incorporating the Sanctus by Robert Levin, highlights Mozart's transcendent exploration of life, death, and redemption.
Joined by the Bavarian Radio Choir and Swedish Radio Choir, alongside a stellar cast of soloists including Anna Prohaska and René Pape, Abbado masterfully brings out the full emotional and spiritual depth of the work. This performance, recorded live at the KKL Luzern in 2012, was praised for its ethereal, hopeful portrayal of the Requiem, offering a vision of peace and eternal light rather than despair.
The DVD includes exceptional sound quality, with PCM Stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1, and DTS 5.1 audio formats, as well as Latin (original), English, and Japanese subtitle options. This performance is also available on Blu-ray for enhanced visual and audio fidelity.
