Overview

"Midnight Run for Your Life" is a 1994 made-for-television film and the third and final entry in a series of television films produced for Universal Television's Action Pack programming block, based on the 1988 film Midnight Run. Christopher McDonald, who played Jack Walsh in previous installments Another Midnight Run and Midnight Runaround, reprises his role.

The plot centers around Lorna Bellstratten (played by Melora Walters), a waitress with aspirations of being in show business. She is duped by her drug-dealer boyfriend Michael Vega (played by Guastaferro) into delivering a bomb to an undercover cop. Although Lorna survives the explosion (which was intended to kill her and the cop), she becomes the only material witness to the crime she unwittingly aided, making her wanted by both the police and the mob (Vega's employers).

Distraught, Lorna flees to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and takes out a contract on her own life (suicide-by-hitman). Meanwhile, Vega, posing as Lorna's father, hires Eddie Moscone (played by Dan Hedaya), a Los Angeles bail bondsman, to send in a bounty hunter to bring her back to LA alive. Eddie offers the job to bounty hunter Jack Walsh (McDonald) for $10,000, but Walsh is reluctant to take the job due to Eddie's history of stiffing him on payments. Eddie threatens to give the job to rival bounty hunter Marvin Dorfler, who does not appear in this installment.

When Walsh finds Lorna in Cabo San Lucas, she mistakes him for her hitman. After a night of dancing, Lorna discovers the truth, hits Walsh out of anger, and storms back to her hotel room. Walsh's attempt to recover her is initially thwarted by the untimely arrival of the real hitman, but they manage to escape—with the hitman, the police, and Vega's goons all in pursuit. Throughout their adventure, the still-despondent Lorna continues to seek out new ways to end her life, while Jack Walsh grapples with another problem—he's falling in love.
