Overview

The Nobel Prize Concert is a prestigious event organized each year to honor Nobel Laureates with a classical music performance. In 2009, the star of the concert was the legendary pianist Martha Argerich, who delivered a captivating performance of Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major. Under the baton of Yuri Temirkanov, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra provided rich musical support throughout the concert, which also featured Prokofiev’s vibrant Romeo and Juliet Suites Nos. 1 & 2 and Shostakovich’s lively Festive Overture. Argerich added a delightful surprise by performing Chopin’s Mazurka in C Major, Op. 24 No. 2, to close the first half of the concert.

Recorded live at the Stockholm Concert Hall, this DVD offers an opportunity to witness Argerich’s electrifying presence and virtuosity, along with outstanding orchestral performances, in a celebration of excellence and artistry.
