English Summary:

Malabar Princess is a 2004 French film directed by Gilles Legrand. The film is about a young boy called Tom, who is sent to live with his grandfather in the French Alps after his mother disappeared during an excursion with her husband, Pierre, in the French Alps. He becomes friends with Benoît, a boy about his age. While searching for Tom's mother they come across the remains of a plane that had crashed during the 1950s. 

Tom, eight and dyslexic,has been living near Mont Blanc with his maternal grandfather, a tram conductor. He becomes friends with Benoît, and the two search for the remains of the Malabar Princess, an Air India plane that crashed in 1950.

Au pied du mont Blanc, Tom, un enfant de huit ans, cherche à retrouver sa mère, disparue cinq ans auparavant en recherchant l'épave d'un avion indien qui s'est écrasé en 1950, le Malabar Princess.

Le film montre abondamment les paysages du mont Blanc. Le chemin de fer à crémaillère y tient un rôle important. La catastrophe du Malabar Princess a réellement eu lieu, le 3 novembre 1950. Il s'agissait d'un Lockheed Constellation assurant le vol 245 Air India, qui s'était écrasé à 4 700 mètres d'altitude. Un des moteurs de l'épave a été retrouvé le 15 septembre 1989 à la surface du Glacier des Bossons, à 1 900 m d'altitude. Un deuxième moteur a été retrouvé le 16 juin 2001 à 1 500 m d'altitude sur le même glacier.
