Ils se retrouvent, malgré eux, au milieu d’une histoire d’amour entre Ma Loute, fils aîné d’une famille de pêcheurs aux mœurs particulières, et Billie Van Peteghem, la benjamine d’une famille de riches bourgeois lillois décadents.

Slack Bay (French: Ma Loute) is a 2016 French comedy film directed by Bruno Dumont. It was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.[3][4] The film is set in a coastal town in north France in 1910.[5][6] The film was shot in several locations in the Pas-de-Calais area.
A well-to-do extended family visits their summer house (the Typhonium) for their annual seaside holidays. They come across a police investigation led by Inspector Machin looking into several disappearances of tourists in the area.

Az itt lakók nagy része halászatból és kagylótenyésztésből él, a furcsa, zárt közösség egyik meghatározó családja Bréforték. A burzsoá Van Peteghem família csak nyaranta látogat el a tengerre néző kastélyukba, és a dekadens őrültekből álló kompániájuk örömmel tölti együtt a mindennapjait Bréfortékkel, csak hogy felsőbbrendűségüket bizonygassák. Azonban a két család fiataljai összeszűrik a levet, ezzel alaposan felrázva a hétköznapokat. Közben egyre többen tűnnek el a tengerpartról, a két nyomozó pedig tehetetlen.
