Overview
London Brass, an esteemed brass ensemble, emerged in 1986 from the remains of the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble. After Philip Jones disbanded his group, London Brass was founded by former members Roger Harvey and David Purser to continue the legacy. The ensemble seamlessly carried forward the musical achievements of its predecessor, earning a reputation for excellence in brass music, including regular world tours until the mid-1990s. Their dedication to their craft and notable achievements in the UK led to their status as an "Ensemble-in-Residence" at the Royal College of Music.
"Viva España" is a vibrant collection of pieces that celebrate the Spanish spirit, featuring a mix of traditional and folkloric music, including brass renditions of iconic works such as "Ritual Fire Dance" and "¡Eviva España!". The album blends the power of brass instrumentation with flamenco, jota, and Catalan influences, delivering a lively and passionate interpretation of Spanish music.
The album features brass arrangements that bring a new dimension to the folkloric traditions of Spain, from the sultry "Sevillana La Historia De Una Amapola" to the energetic "Bolero." The performance is full of exuberance, evoking the warmth and rhythm of Spanish culture.
