Franz Liszt occupied himself with his fiendishly difficult 12 Transcendental Études for almost 30 years, elaborating and clarifying in a bid for brilliant simplicity. Though the key, tempo characters, meters and moods of the pieces tell a story of a conscious concept, they are seldom performed consecutively in live performance. József Balog, one of the most talented members of the young pianist generation, has participated with great success at many festivals, and been repeatedly broadcast by BBC Radio and the classical music radio stations in both Denmark and Holland.

Liszt szenvedélyes átdolgozó volt, a 12 transzcendens etűddel is több ízben, közel 30 éven át foglalkozott: az átdolgozás finomító-tisztázó munkája során az egyszerűségre való törekvés magas szintű, briliáns minőséget eredményezett.
Bár a darabok hangneme, tempókarakterei, metrumai, hangulatai tudatos koncepciót tükröznek, élő hangversenyen ritkán hangzanak el egyvégtében.
