Un écrivain cherche l'inspiration sur une plage de la Côte d'Azur. Il y rencontre une jeune femme mystérieuse qui lui fait penser à l'héroïne de son roman. Il entreprend la conquête de cette jeune femme étrange et probablement psychopathe, protégée par un puissant avocat et ses hommes de main. Des meurtres sont commis. Peggy est le suspect numéro 1. Elle avait auparavant tué son mari à coups de pic à glace.

Marc Rilson egy rendkívül tapasztalt ügyvéd, aki úgy véli, sok újat már nem tanulhat az életben. De mint kiderül, ő sincs teljesen felkészülve ügyfele, a gyönyörű Peggy jéghideg, számító magatartására. Marcot is figyelmeztetik a veszélyre, de ez sem tudja feltartóztatni a nő iránt kialakuló, egyre erősebb vonzalmát.
