Les Maîtres du temps est un film d'animation réalisé par René Laloux sur des dessins de Mœbius, sorti en 1982 et inspiré du roman de science-fiction L'Orphelin de Perdide de Stefan Wul.

Piel, un petit garçon en compagnie de son père, atterrit sur une planète sauvage, Perdide. Avant de mourir, son père réussit à contacter son ami Jaffar, et lui demande de sauver son fils Piel, désormais seul sur cette planète. Piel reçoit de son père un microphone, son seul moyen de contact avec Jaffar qui, avec des compagnons, vont lui parler tout au long du voyage en lui donnant de judicieux conseils. En compagnie de son vieil ami Silbad, un vieux boucanier rusé et plein de ressources, Jaffar se dirige vers Perdide pour sauver le petit Piel. Mais plusieurs incidents vont se dérouler au cours de l'aventure... sans compter que l'espace recèle bien des mystères.

Time Masters, Az idő urai in Hungarian) is a 1982 Franco-Hungarian animated science fiction feature film directed by René Laloux and designed by Mœbius. It is based on the 1958 science fiction novel L'Orphelin de Perdide (The Orphan of Perdide) by Stefan Wul.^[1]

The film centres on a boy, Piel, who is stranded on Perdide, a desert planet where giant killer hornets live. He awaits rescue by the space pilot Jaffar, the exiled prince Matton, his sister Belle and Jaffar's old friend Silbad who are trying to reach Perdide and save Piel before it is too late.

Hungarian Summary:

Piel, a 8 éves kisfiú egyedül marad a gyilkos veszélyekkel teli Perdide bolygón. Egyetlen társa Miki, a beszélő tojás, amely tanácsokkal látja el a túlélés érdekében. Piel nem tudja, hogy Miki valójában egy adóvevő, amellyel a megmentésére siető Jaffarral, Silbaddal és Belle-lel tartja a kapcsolatot.

Míg odalenn Piel akarva-akaratlanul is megismerkedik a Perdide élővilágával – barátságossal és barátságtalannal egyaránt –, addig az űrt átszelő mentőcsapat lehengerlő kalandokat él át, szembekerül a könyörtelen arcnélküliekkel, körözött potyautasokat rejteget, kincset talál és veszít el, végül megismerkedik az idő titokzatos uraival, s ez a találkozás mindnyájuk életében meglepő fordulatot hoz.

A francia-magyar koprodukcióban készült legendás rajzfilm sokunkra legalább akkora hatással volt, mint a Csillagok háborúja.

Stefan Wul kultikus regényét Moebius (Alien, Az ötödik elem) látványtervei keltették életre, az így megelevenedett világot pedig a Pannónia Filmstúdió művészei népesítették be fantasztikus lényekkel, felejthetetlen kreatúrákkal. Piel időt és teret átszelő kalandjai csodálattal vegyes izgalmakat tartogatnak a sci-fik és az animációs filmek rajongóinak egyaránt.
