Overview
"L'Alidoro" is a lost-and-found story of love and jealousy, brilliantly re-discovered and staged for the first world premiere performance in modern times. This opera, a commedia per musica in three acts with a libretto by Gennarantonio Federico, interweaves comedy and poignant reflections on social status and aging. The narrative, which explores various perspectives on love and jealousy, was recently rediscovered along with three other operas by Leonardo Leo in the Abbey of Montecassino. Chosen by Antonio Florio for his renowned Cappella della Pietà de' Turchini—one of the best Italian Baroque orchestras of the last twenty years—this production is a vivid celebration of Italian Baroque artistry.
