Plot Summary
Living a solitary life in New York City's Little Italy, Léon Montana (Jean Reno) leads a quiet existence as a hitman, working for a mafioso named Tony. He spends his downtime nurturing a houseplant and watching old movies. His life takes a dramatic turn when he meets Mathilda Lando (Natalie Portman), a troubled young girl living with her dysfunctional family.
After Mathilda's family becomes a target of DEA agents for their involvement in drug trafficking, Stansfield leads a raid that leaves Mathilda orphaned. Injured and desperate, she seeks refuge in Léon's apartment. Reluctantly, Léon takes her in, and an unusual bond forms between them. Mathilda becomes Léon's protégée, learning the trade of a hitman while seeking revenge for her family's death.
