Mae West plays Rose Carlton, known as "The Frisco Doll," a kept woman who kills her keeper Chan Lo in self-defense and escapes on a steamer to Nome, Alaska. During her voyage, she encounters Sister Annie Alden, a missionary heading to rescue a struggling mission.
