English Overview
King Solomon's Mines is a 2004 American two-part television miniseries and the fifth adaptation of H. Rider Haggard's classic 1885 novel. Starring Patrick Swayze as Allan Quartermain and Alison Doody as Elizabeth Maitland, the film was produced by Hallmark Entertainment and originally aired on June 6, 2004.
The story follows Elizabeth Maitland, who hires Allan Quartermain to rescue her father, Sam Maitland, kidnapped by the Kukuanas after he had drawn a map to the legendary mines of King Solomon. The Russian Tsar is also interested in locating the mines and sends pursuers after Quartermain and his companions.
The film opens with Sam Maitland writing a letter to his daughter, followed by his capture. Quartermain, a safari guide, initially leads a hunting expedition but soon finds himself embroiled in a dangerous quest filled with treachery and adventure, as he must navigate the dangers of the African wilderness to fulfill his mission.
