JAZZ LEGEND - KENNY DREW TRIO - AT THE BREWHOUSE - With Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen & Alvin Queen - The elegance, feeling and virtuosity which made Kenny Drew a major figure among modern jazz pianists is to be found in abundance at this concert filmed just a year before his death. Accompanying Drew are two exceptional musicians who match his demanding standards of musical rapport. The pianists professional partnership and friendship with the legendary Danish bassist Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen dates back to the mid 60's when Kenny first settled in Copenhagen. Master drummer Alvin Queen joined in 1989 giving a further boost to the music and rounding out one of the most prominent jazz trios of the early 90's. The seven pieces performed at the Brewhouse had been in the trio's book for many years and were among the musician's favorite compositions. Not only are they interpreted with complete assurance and evident enjoyment but the trio also have the opportunity to stretch out and live dangerously in a setting without possibility for edits and overdubs. .
