Historical Context

Set against the backdrop of the death of Géza fejedelem in 997, the story unfolds the tensions among the royal family. As per ancient law, Koppány, the eldest male member of the royal family, is the rightful heir. However, Géza's dying wish was for his son, István, to be chosen as the leader under Christian law. This conflict between István and Koppány threatens to escalate into a civil war, highlighting the need for peace in a nation on the brink of chaos.
