Inglewood Jam: Bird and Chet Live at the Trade Winds, June 16, 1952 - live album, recordings of American jazz musicians: saxophonist Charlie Parker and trumpeter Chet Baker and their accompanying musicians.
In May 1952, during one of the concert tours on the west coast of the United States (called the West Coast), Charlie Parker was briefly engaged to the "Tiffany Club" in Los Angeles . At the same time , musicians such as Harry Babasin , Sonny Criss , Al Haig , and Chet Baker, who was then 22 years old (and shortly thereafter joined the Gerry' quartet ), were performing (and recording) in various lineups in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and Inglewood. Mulligan's ego ). From March to September 1952, the Polynesian restaurant-club "Trade Winds" in Inglewood produced, among others: recordings of bands: Chet Baker All Stars, Al Haig Octet and Sonny Criss Quartet. On June 16, 1952, Harry Babasin's All Stars played there with guest star Charlie Parker. The songs recorded then were later released on the Inglewood Jam album.
In the 1970s, a monophonic LP was released by the Spanish company Fresh Sound Records, specializing in the publication of rare sessions (often regardless of the quality of the recorded sound, sometimes so-called bootlegs ). The full title of the album was: Inglewood Jam Live at the Trade Winds, June 16, 1952 Bird and Chet featuring: Sonny Criss, Al Haig, Harry Babasin, Laurance Marable . A CD of these recordings was also released as On The Coast (sometimes listed as Charlie Parker All Stars On The Coast ) by Jazz Showcase (LP 5007). In Japan, these recordings were released in the 1970s as the Harry Babasin Inglewood Jam 6-16-52 LP (Jazz Chronicles JCS 102) and as the Inglewood Jam Charlie Parker/Sonny Criss/Chet Baker LP on Jazz Chronicles/Century (JP- 20EL 6004). Both on the latter album and on its other editions (also on CD), the order of recordings, duration, titles and even the band's composition differ from those given by Fresh Sound. On November 16, 2004, Fresh Sound Records released a remastered reissue on CD (FRS-CD 17). The CD was also released by JazzDoor (JD 1209).
The information that the album was released in 1952 by Verve does not have to be true (records released in the early 1950s did not contain more than 40 minutes of recordings, and in the case of Inglewood Jam , only one song - " Squirrel" - lasts approx. 15 minutes).
