Hans van Manen began his career in 1951, working as a dancer, choreographer, and artistic director for the Nederlands Dans Theater and Het Nationale Ballet, where he was appointed Resident Choreographer in 2003. The DVD features recordings sourced from Hans van Manen's private archives, showcasing rare and previously unissued material. His work has been performed by renowned ballet companies worldwide, including the Stuttgart Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, the English Royal Ballet, the Royal Danish Ballet, Zürich Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, and the Alvin Ailey Company. Known as the "Mondriaan of dance," Van Manen's oeuvre includes over 120 ballets characterized by clarity of structure and refined simplicity. Introdans has performed over 20 of his works, many of which are well-suited for young audiences. This DVD features performances by Introdans Ensemble for Youth, recorded live at the Mix4Kids Introdans Premiere on November 11, 2000, in Arnhem.
