Michel Blanc est un grand acteur de cinéma. Cependant, on l'accuse d'avoir abusé sexuellement Josiane Balasko, Charlotte Gainsbourg et Mathilda May, de s'être comporté comme un goujat au Festival de Cannes, d'avoir semé la zizanie dans la discothèque de Régine et d'accepter des cachets médiocres, comme des animations dans des supermarchés, en cachette de son agent jusqu'au jour où il ne peut plus rentrer chez lui. Les témoignages sont flagrants, mais Michel Blanc sait qu'il est innocent. Il décide alors de se faire aider par Carole Bouquet afin de faire la lumière sur cette affaire, et il découvre qu'il a un sosie parfait, Patrick Olivier, qui, ayant souffert dans sa vie de ressembler à Michel Blanc, a bien décidé d'en profiter.

Michel Blanc is a great film actor. However, he's been accused of sexually abusing actresses Josiane Balasko, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Mathilda May, of behaving like a cad at Cannes and of accepting dubious publicity deals, such as appearances in supermarkets, behind the back of his agent. The evidence is there for everyone to see, but Blanc knows he is innocent. He seeks assistance from fellow actress Carole Bouquet to shed light on this matter, and he discovers that he has a perfect double, Patrick Olivier, who, having suffered all his life from his likeness to Michel Blanc, has decided to use this to his financial advantage.

Michael Blanc francia rendező (aki önmagát alakítja a filmben) nem érti, miért csúszik szét hirtelen az élete. Egy hasonmása megpróbálja kihasználni hírnevét. Útjaik egy fényűző hotel halljában keresztezik egymást a Cannes-i filmfesztivál apropóján: az ál Mr. Blanc szinésznőcskéket csábítgat, ami egyáltalán nem tesz jót „az igazi” hírnevének.
