Overview

Fierce Creatures (1997) is a farcical comedy film and a spiritual successor to the 1988 film A Fish Called Wanda. The film stars John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline, and Michael Palin, who reunite from the earlier hit. Written by Cleese and directed by Robert Young and Fred Schepisi, the film is set in a zoo under new ownership, where the business-minded owner demands the zoo start generating a significant profit. To do so, the zoo's director (played by Cleese) has the idea to replace the docile animals with fierce and menacing creatures to attract visitors.

The film's quirky plot revolves around the characters' attempts to transform the zoo while dealing with various humorous situations and misunderstandings. The movie was dedicated to Gerald Durrell and Peter Cook, with some scenes filmed at Jersey Zoo, founded by Durrell.
