Sylvia Kowalczuk - Harp
SYLVIA KOWALCZUK one of the outstanding representatives of the young generation of harpists is a professor at Queens College of Music, City University of New York. A First-Prize Winner of the 1978 International Harp Competition in Italy and Winner of Artist Internation's 1986 Young Artists Audition in New York. PRofessor Kowalczuk has mad five recordings with chamber groups and her solo record with Hungaroton was a tremendous success. On this album she has succeeded in presenting the harp in an unusual repertoire.

THE HUNGARIAN VIRTUOSI CHAMBER ORCHESTRA was founded in 1988 by graduates of the world-famous Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest. The repertoire of the ensemble ranges from Baroque to Contemporary music. As a result of their highly successful debut concert in Hungary they received engagements to perform in Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, Korea and Japan. "They recently returned from their second highly successful American tour. The Hungarian government bestowed upon their leader Miklós Szenthelyi, the highest decoration the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic (Officer's Cross).

ARISTID von WÜRTZLER graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music where he pursued his studies with Zoltán Kodály. He organized the First International Harp contest in the United States in 1969 and created the New York Harp Ensemble in 1970. He has written for his ensemble over 200 compositions and arrangements in addition to thirty-four solo works that he introduced himself in fifty-three countries on four continents with unqualified success. He played at the Vatican and the White House during the Carter, Reagan, Bush and Clinton administrations.
