About the Editor / A szerkesztőről
Alfonso Pechan (1902. április 21., Pécs – 1994. július 1., Budapest) was a renowned mathematician and dictionary editor in the Esperanto community. He taught natural sciences in Pécs and became active in the Esperanto movement. In 1940, he married Beksits Ilona, who was also an Esperanto speaker. Moving to Budapest, he taught mathematics and physics, and from 1939 to 1944, he served as the president of the Hungarian Esperanto Teachers Association.
Pechan edited several Esperanto-Hungarian dictionaries, including this one, and was deeply involved in organizing Esperanto exams for nearly four decades. His dictionaries have gone through numerous editions, with ongoing posthumous publications. Pechan was a prominent member of the Hungarian Esperanto Federation, where he held a leadership role until he became an honorary member in 1985.
