Dirty Deeds - Real world / Sanctuary Music Productions / Beast Records Audio CD 1999 / BTDCD3

Dirty Deeds second release, Real World, contains a sound comparable to that of fellow Brits Iron Maiden. Maybe the reason for the two bands' similar sound is the fact that Maiden's sound engineer, Doug Hall, produced Real World. After wrapping up tours of Europe and America in 1998 (opening for Helloween, Dio, UFO, and, you guessed it, Iron Maiden), Dirty Deeds began recording their second album. The performances sound lively throughout, as on hard rockers like the album-opening "Welcome to the Real World," "Judgement Day," "Kill the Pain," and "Never Give In." Lead singer Pete Franklin (who also doubles on rhythm guitar) sings in a rough n' ready style, while lead guitarist Barry Fitzgibbon has a wealth of heavy guitar riffs up his sleeve. Lovers of British heavy metal of the '80s (Wolfsbane, Saxon, Diamond Head, etc.) will find kindred spirits in Dirty Deeds.
