During WW2, Hungarian soldier Lombos Mihály is denied furlough and returns to battle on the Eastern Front where he is captured by the Soviets who use him as a 'trampler' through the German minefields and as an interpreter.
1942 végét írunk. Ukrajna, keleti front. Itt szolgál Lombos honvéd (Makray Gábor), a hazájához hűséges katona, akinek friss házasként egyetlen vágya, viszontlátni ifjú feleségét. Egy adminisztrációs hiba miatt azonban lemarad a hazafelé tartó vonatról. Azt gondolja, rosszabb már nem jöhet, az igazi pokoljárás viszont csak akkor kezdődik... A bibliai Jób történetének modern kori, második világháborús feldolgozása.

This film is about a soldier of the 2nd Royal Hungarian Army, which was annihilated during a rear-guard action after the Battle of Stalingrad. Private Lompos, the man whom the movie follows, was made a P.O.W. of the Soviet Union after a failed counter-attack. Lompos was then made into a "Trampler" (A human minesweeper. A disputed concept whether it was a fact or myth). It was interesting to view the Soviets as they slowly advanced upon the Carpathian Mountains, and viewing Private Lompos as he was fighting with his own mentality in order to survive the war. The props, uniforms, all the WW2 era equipment was really good and there was some good cinematography.
