A team of evangelical translators and linguists led by Alexander Flek has worked on this version for 15 years. Since 2009 when it was first published, Bible21 became widely popular among the Czech churches and the general public.

This translation of the books of the Bible into the Czech language was started in 1994 under the direction of Alexander Flek and completed and published as a whole in 2009. A large part of the Old Testament was translated by Jiří Hedánek, and the Deuterocanonical books were translated by Jiří Pavlík.
