This newly announced star in the sky of the Church of Christ, the god-bearing father of our nectaria, was born in Silivria Thrace on October 1, 1846, to pious and poor parents Dima and Vasilika, receiving the name Anastasia at baptism. Anastasija received the first foundations of his education in his birthplace, and at the age of fourteen he left for Constantinople, where a relative accepted him as an assistant in a merchant's shop. His love for books was evident from early childhood. As a child, he made books from pieces of paper, explaining to his mother how he wanted to write the words of God in the books.

Ова новојављена звезда на небу Цркве Христове, богоносни отац наш нектарије, родио се у Силиврији Тракијској 1. октобра 1846. године од побожних и сиромашних родитеља Дима и Василике, добивши на крштењу име Анастасије. Прве темеље образовања Анастасије доби у свом родном месту, а у четрнаестој години отпутова у Цариград, где га неки рођак прими за помоћника у трговачкој радњи. Још од раног детињсктва се показала његова љубав према књизи. Као дете правио је књиге од комада папира, објашњавајући мајци како жели да у књиге записује речи Божје.
