English Summary:

Blueberry (French: Blueberry: L'expérience secrète) is a 2004 French acid western directed by Jan Kounen. It is an adaptation of the Franco-Belgian comic book series Blueberry, illustrated by Jean Giraud (better known as Moebius) and scripted by Jean-Michel Charlier. However, the film has little in common with the source material. The film starred Vincent Cassel as the title character along with Michael Madsen and Juliette Lewis. Although the film is a French production, the film is in English to match the story's setting in America's Wild West in the 1870s. Since the character of Blueberry remains obscure in the States, the film was released on DVD in America in November 2004 under the title Renegade and marketed very much as a conventional Western.

Blueberry, l'expérience secrète est un film de Jan Kounen sorti en 2004 et s'inspirant librement de la bande dessinée Blueberry créée par Jean-Michel Charlier et Jean Giraud alias Mœbius.

Après avoir passé son adolescence parmi les Indiens Chiricahuas, Mike Blueberry est devenu le marshall d'une petite ville située non loin des terres sacrées amérindiennes. Il tente d'empêcher des chasseurs de trésor de s'aventurer sur ces territoires interdits.

« Bienvenue dans l'inconnu ! » précise le réalisateur dans le préambule qui accompagne le DVD. Le film présente en effet l'initiation de Blueberry au monde des Indiens, au monde intérieur. Le film se double alors d'un récit d'éducation pour Mike Blueberry, rapport à un traumatisme vécu dans sa jeunesse, et montré au début du film (la mort violente de son premier amour).

A tizenéves Mike Blueberry az 1870-es években települ át Luisianából a délnyugatra. Érkezését követően nem sokkal összetűzésbe kerül egy helyi rosszfiúval, Wallace Sebastian Blounttal. A csetepaté során Mike szerelme, Madeleine életét veszti, a sebesült fiú pedig elmenekül a városból. Életét egy indiánok törzsnek köszönheti, akik rátalálnak, és befogadják maguk közé. Évekkel később Blueberry visszatér a fehérek világába, és ő lesz Palomitó város seriffje. Egy nap a helyi italmérésben verekedés robban ki, a bajkeverők egyikéről, Prositról pedig kiderül: valójában Werner Amadeus von Luckner báró, aki már sok ellenséget szerzett magának. Ráadásul Prosit birtokában van egy puska, amely egy halott helybelié volt - ezzel első számú gyanúsítottá válik a gyilkosság ügyében. Az emberek felháborodottan meg akarják lincselni, de Blueberry megmenti őt, hogy átadhassa két fejvadásznak. Prosit azonban elmenekül. Nem sokkal később felbukkan a városkában a halottnak hitt Wallace, oldalán a szintén nem patyolattiszta multú, gazdag Sullivannel. A két férfi Prosittal együtt szervez egy nagy aranyrablást. Blueberry természetesen tudomást szerez Wallace-ék tervéről. Tudja, hogy az indiánok kincseit egy rejtélyes szellem őrzi, és sámánfivére, Runi különleges képességekkel ruházza fel, amelyek segítségével élőkkel és holtakkal egyaránt szembeszállhat...
