The Bible Vs the Assassin’s Creed

The Bible VS the Assassin’s Creed

I was watching the movie Assassin’s Creed the other day with the hopes of being entertained. But, more than being entertained, I found myself being continually amused at how Hollywood is relentless in its attack against God, the Bible, and the minds of the viewers. Any undiscerning viewer, be it a Christian or a non-Christian, could absorb the whole philosophy the movie propagates because he has no filter. But thanks to God’s word, the very thing that Hollywood seeks to attack, we born-again believers have the much needed light that we need to protect our souls from the unscrupulous stratagem of the Devil.

Now, it’s important to remember that a creed is a doctrine/belief system in which someone truly and completely believes in. No questions asked. And barely a few seconds into the beginning of the movie we hear the Creed of the Assassins, “Nothing is true, everything is permitted.” That’s when you might begin to hear the wise words of Ravi Zacharias ringing in your head, “if nothing is true, then how do you know that what you are saying is true?” The naïve viewer buys this supposedly cool phrase the movie spews out. And they unwittingly make it their own life’s creed. Sadly, they won’t even care to look at this cup of poison from another angle.

We, the believers in God’s Bible, know that absolute truth exists in the form of God’s Word. And whatever God says is true and has always been proven to be true. Those that take the time and pain to study God’s word would only agree with this statement.

We are now living in a world where ‘everything is permitted.’ And if we dare to speak the truth by saying, “No! There are things that aren’t permitted,” we run the risk of being chastised or type-casted as haters or bigots by governments and the world system. There are many things that God doesn’t permit in Leviticus 18. He does so only because He knows that a man or woman cannot take fire to their bosom without getting their clothes burnt. God cares for the best of our souls. All things are permitted by the governments of the world today, but not all things are profitable for the redemption and maturing of the soul.

The Bible says, “…the whole world is under the sway of the Devil”, and it also says that “the times are evil.” We are living in a time when people are continually desensitized by movies loaded with visual effects, porn and satanic philosophies. Is there hope for the world? Yes there is, and it is God’s word – the Bible. It’s only in this Book that we see and hear God telling us what is true and what is not. The Devil knows that God is true, but he wants to make the audience think that it is cool to reject and mock the Bible. And it comes as no surprise when five minutes into the movie we see the lead character subtly, yet defiantly reject the Bible as his means of redemption.

Well, this isn’t the first time Hollywood has done this, and neither will it be the last. They will be busy at it until the Lord Jesus Christ returns for us. But from now until the time of His certain return we have a duty to expose the works of darkness. The very shadows in which the assassins work. Let us be aware of the Devil behind the scenes, for ‘he was an assassin from the beginning,...and the truth is not in him. When the Devil speaks he speaks out of his own resources….lies.’

Beware lest the assassin kills you with his creed! Our weapons are mighty. Our weapon is the Word of God. And thank God that He has given us His word that serves as the light in which we can fight. His word serves as a filter to protect our souls from the sneaky, silent rebellion that Satan seeks to plant even in the souls of the believer. We aren’t ignorant of the Devil’s subterfuge. We have been given the Bible. We have God’s mightiest weapon. And we have it in our language.
